Acumin Freezes and Cannot Be Closed

Question: After performing an action in Acumin, the application freezes, and the only way to close it is by using the Ctrl+Alt+Delete keys. I seem to be the only one experiencing this issue.

Response:

When Acumin freezes, it is often due to a dialog window opening offscreen - typically a popup message that appears on a second monitor that is no longer connected. While the application waits for input from that dialog, the other program windows may appear unresponsive. This issue is commonly seen in multi-monitor setups.

To resolve this, you can try the following:

  1. Keybord Shortcut Method:

Moving the hidden dialog window back to the visible screen using your keyboard.

Follow these steps:

  • Hold down the ALT key.

  • Press SPACEBAR.

  • Press M (Move).

  • Use the arrow keys to move the dialog window. The goal is to "blindly" bring it back to the main screen (try moving it to the left).

  • Once the dialog window is in a visible position, press ENTER to lock its position.

  1. Reset Window Position via Display Settings:

  • Temporarily reconnect any previously used external monitor if applicable.

  • Move the popup to the main screen, then close it so Acumin remembers its new position.

  • Disconnect the second monitor and reopen Acumin.

If those methods do not resolve the issue, you can manually reset the form’s display position by deleting its location data directly from the Windows Registry.

Below are instructions for correcting the Registry settings for specific forms commonly affected by this issue. If the form you’re experiencing issues with is not listed, please submit a request to Acumin Support for further assistance.

Important Note: Be cautious when making changes in the Registry Editor. Always back up your registry before making any modifications.
