QUESTION:
How to use the year of call field if there is no year of call for a member like a law clerk or non lawyer?
RESPONSE:
The year of call is an open field in the member properties form which is visible and accessible for any member – lawyers and non-lawyers; however as the date of 01/01/1900 means no date (the equivalent of null) and a year of call date is not required (the field is not mandatory) it can be left as 01/01/1900 for anyone that does not have a year of call or if the year of call is not known.
For future reference, all date fields have a date value as a default. When the defaults is 01/01/1900 or 31/12/1899, it means no-date and the content will be reported in this way. Where keeping the no-date is not functionally possible, the application will require a date selection, making the field mandatory.
