QUESTION: I am looking for information on how to unlock time entries that need to be transferred to another client/matter. I have access to transfer the disbursements, but the locked time entries are greyed out. What was done to lock these entries?
RESPONSE: The most often cause for entries to be locked is if the matter is in the process of being billed and the entries are in the billing section.
It is also possible that the reason the entries are locked is because of the chargeability of the entries and the chargeability requirements of the destination matter. It is possible to have non-chargeable time entries in matters set to have time as chargeable, however the reverse is not possible. Matters set to have time as non-chargeable must have all their entries as non-chargeable.
The WIP Inquiry will show the chargeability of the entries to be transferred, and any chargeability status conflict between entries and matter will impact the transfer process.
To complete the transfer in this case, from WIP inquiry right-click and change the entry chargeability to match the matter, then return to the transfer form and you should be able to transfer them.
