QUESTION: Hi we have a group of external contract users who have full access to Acumin. We want to limit their access. Is there a way to limit them to just dockets? What about dockets, cheque reqs and deposit slips only?
RESPONSE: Access to functions and options is granted by assigning a member to a security user group that has the permissions needed, therefore to limit user access for contract lawyers, you may want to start by creating a new user group and giving that user group permission to enter time and any other relevant option to effective time keeping to match the firm's policy for timekeeping. Examples are permission to record time, and permission to record time with a date in closed month (prior month tab).
After you grant the permissions you need for contract lawyers to the new security group, go to shortcuts to provide visibility of only those task bar sections that are relevant for those users (short cuts tab under group properties) and within each visible task bar section right click to provide or remove visibility of the shortcuts within that task bar section.
As the last step, go to the user properties of each user and change their membership to the new user group created. The users will need to log out and log back in for the new profile to take effect.
Hint: You may want to start by looking at the permissions of the user group for Associates as inspiration.
