GL operations based reports - GL operation date equals the object transaction date

QUESTION: Can you advise if there is a way to query transactions in a GL, based on the action date of the item, not the transaction date it was posted to?  For example, see items with a transaction date of April, but filter those items that may have been entered in May.

RESPONSE: The GL operation is dated using the date of the transaction. For example, if you post a cheque today dated yesterday or an AP  voucher with a payable invoice date of June 1st, the GL operations for the cheque will have a date of June 9th (yesterday) and the ones for the AP voucher will be dated June 1st. 

Although some accounting reports, like the billing register can be generated by creation date, posting date, and transaction date (date of the invoice which is the date of the GL operation), most financial reports are generated based on the date of the GL operation and not the date the corresponding object was created (action) or posted (action).
