QUESTION: How can I report based on province or country for special requirements like BC or SK PST or US Annual Returns?
RESPONSE: To identify special addressed based on province or country, the most effective way if the firm is not currently using a reporting dimension for this variable, is to export the client billing contact (or the matter one depending on the type of clients and matters of the firm) using the client-matter excel export tool. Once the billing contact is selected it will export with the billing address. Although you can reduce the sample by filtering by status, depending on the firm the list of records could be extensive.
Moving forward you can use alternative grouping dimensions. Depending on licensing you can have access to a firm-defined client reporting dimension, where you can group clients into geographical locations one of which could be by province, region, country, or a mix that responds to the firm's needs. From the main menu bar select “Environment – System Configuration – System Settings” to see if you are licensed – have access to - the firm defined client grouping dimension, on the “Dimensions & Groups” tab.
Alternatively, you can use the business status. The limitation with this reporting attribute is that it only applies to non individual clients. From the main menu bar select “Environment – System Configuration – System Settings” to access the “Defaults – Client & Matter – Set as Mandatory” sub-tab to see if you are using this firm defined client grouping dimension.
If there is no significant volume you can create a group client as use as the parent for all clients with a BC address. Most reports can be executed by group client
