QUESTION: If a client has two primary contacts with two email addresses, will Acumin send two emails (invoice/statement of account) to the contacts?
RESPONSE: The primary contact is just a label for a contact category used to automatically create the first contact by combining the client with the address, because a contact category is a requirement for the contact properties firm. The application will set this automatically created contact as also billing contact as well as identify it as AR contact (also a mandatory requirement). This default is created to facilitate the opening of the client, therefore most users add the contact they need as it can be different and remove the automatically created one.
Although users can create an unlimited number of primary contacts which so not have to be billing contacts, it is best practice to create contacts using labels that fairly represent the contact itself (for example “Directors or Officers” for corporate clients. If primary contact for you means the main person that should receive the invoice, then most of the time you should have the one unless for the one client some matters need another. You should also set the one you will use most often as the default so when a new matter is created you get the one you expect.
As the invoice document includes only one billing contact, if you create two billing contacts - regardless of contact category used (primary or other) only one will filter down to the invoice, and it is this one whose email will be used. If you need to carbon copy a contact, set the contact as carbon copy (right click menu) and once you generate the email, this contact will be selected in the cc field of the email dialogue box.
