QUESTION: What can I do while the matter is temporary? Can I post transactions like time or trust deposits to temporary matters?
RESPONSE: It is not possible to post any transactions to temporary matters. Technically users should not be transacting on new matters that have not been activated (have potential conflicts that have not cleared). In practice however, many users start investing time on new matters while they undergo the potential conflict assessment process. For this reason, it is possible to capture time records and soft disbursements - the latter is subject to a system setting as it is less common - so they can remain in an unposted state until the matter is activated or rejected due to conflict. Once activated the transactions post as you would expect, however if the matter is rejected, we capture the initial efforts as non recovered activities for matters rejected due to conflict, so you can measure the investment and make process decisions if the investment is too high.
