New time code that any lawyer can use for the flat fee invoice

QUESTION: Is it also possible to design a new time code that any lawyer can use for the flat fee invoice? For example, if lawyer A has an effective rate of $450 and lawyer B has an effective rate of $360, but they want to bill a $1000 flat fee on which they worked together and split a $600 and $400 on that invoice, can we create a new code to charge the flat fee without using the time entries with their effective rate?

RESPONSE: It is possible to create time codes with a fixed fees so when used it triggers the same value for the task, no matter how much time was spent by the timekeeper. However, this type of code is mostly used to capture travel time. For set fees, it is considered best practice to create a set fee paragraph for the matter, which is used during the invoice process (version 2.0). Prior to 2.0 the paragraph is added with the fee included in the text. Users record their time accurately, and once the invoice is created it triggers a fee override to 1,000. The allocated fees are calculated based on the allocation formula applied which can matter specific – for example where lawyer A gets 60% and Lawyer B gets 40%.
