RESPONSE: Subject to the shared invoice (split billing) license, a matter can be set to have multiple participants that have a percentage share so the matter’s invoices can be natively split amongst multiple recipients or payers. When a new matter is created, users can complete the shared invoice tab identifying the participant(s), one of which could be the client that has the matter and finalizing the profile for each. Key information needed includes the selection of the billing contact for each participant, along with sales tax requirements (as each participant may be different) and its percentage share. When the invoice is paid, credited, or written off, the user will be prompted to select the affected participant(s), so the invoice reduction is applied to the correct party. Reports, dashboards, and statement of accounts take this into consideration to present participant-relevant results.
